Top Tips for a Healthy Summer for The Whole Family

The kids are off school and the sun has come out so it’s time to fully enjoy the summer season. But what can you do to make sure the whole family has a super healthy and happy summer? Here, we take a quick look at our top tips!

SPF, Always

Even on days when the sun isn’t streaming, SPF is a must. Helping to prevent burning and peeling as well as more damaging sun risks, using SPF every day keeps your skin healthy. Remember to also add a facial SPF to wear underneath your makeup for full protection. 

Take Care of Your Skin

Alongside the addition of an SPF to your usual routine, you need to take care of your skin through the summer by exfoliating and moisturising regularly. Exfoliating helps to buff away any dead skin cells and clear pores and ideally should be done twice a week while moisturising every day will keep skin happy and smooth. 

Stay Hydrated

It’s easy to have so much fun through summer that you forget to keep your body hydrated which can affect your whole body’s health, your hunger levels and even your skin and complexion. Make sure you and your whole family have a reusable water bottle each and keep it with you for regular water breaks. 

Train Yourself to Be a Morning Person

The summer is a great time to use the bright mornings to train yourself to get up earlier and be more productive earlier in the day. Take advantage of the light 6.30am’s and kick off your mornings with something you enjoy, such as a yoga or meditation session. 

Choose Juice Over Fizzy Drinks

Don’t fill yourself and your kids up with sugary fizzy drinks just because they’re nice and cold, create your own juices, packed with antioxidant and fibre-filled berries for a much healthier alternative. 

Get Outdoors & Exercise 

While the weather’s nice, get yourself outdoors and get your body moving, no matter what you like to do. Whether it’s turning a chore such as gardening into a fun game for the whole family or simply heading off for a solo run, sunshine is a great excuse to get out of the house and start a new, healthier and more active routine. 

Create Shade in The Garden

It’s important to enjoy the summer weather while you can but also remember to protect yourself and especially the little ones. Make sure you have created shade in your garden to enjoy spending time outside but with less time underneath the glare of the mid-day sun. 

Take A Tech Time-Out

While the kids are off school, why not teach them how to have a break from tech by doing it yourself. Banish emails to certain times of the day and have periods without phones to really enjoy each other’s company and make the most of every moment together this summer. 

Try Vegan

Summer is a great time to try a plant-based diet. Not only can it be a much more sustainable and healthy way to live, but it’s also a quick and easy way to create summer meals, perfect for eating outdoors.
